20 new asbestos cases filed inMadisonCountyMarch 15-19

A total of 20 newasbestos lawsuits were filed in Madison County Circuit Court throughout the week of March 15 through March 19.

The following complaints were filed:

--James Barber ofMissouri claims his recently deceased mother, Rosemary Redmon, developed lung cancer after her work as an assembly line worker at various locations from 1948 until 1973. Barber will be represented by Robert Phillips and Perry J. Browder of Simmons, Browder, Gianaris, Angelides and Barnerd inEast Alton. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-287.

--Judy Bottcher ofIllinois claims her recently deceased father, Lloyd Scholer, developed mesothelioma after his work as a laborer and plumber at various locations throughoutIllinois from 1947 until 2009. Bottcher will be represented by Brian J. Cooke of Simmons, Browder, Gianaris, Angelides and Barnerd inEast Alton. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-314.

--Delores Caldwell ofMissouri claims her recently deceased husband, Julius Caldwell, developed pleural plaques after his work as an auto worker at various locations from 1949 until 1979. Delores Caldwell will be represented by Robert Phillips and Perry J. Browder of Simmons, Browder, Gianaris, Angelides and Barnerd inEast Alton. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-295.

--Betty Crisp ofIllinois claims her recently deceased husband, Fred G. Crisp, developed mesothelioma after his work as a laborer and stocker at various locations from 1954 until 1979. Betty Crisp will be represented by Robert Phillips and Perry J. Browder of Simmons, Browder, Gianaris, Angelides and Barnerd inEast Alton. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-282.

--Richard DeWeese ofAlabama, a laborer, machine operator, grinder and warehouse and tool room worker at various locations from 1964 until 1966 and from 1972 until 1979, claims lung cancer. DeWeese will be represented by Robert Phillips and Perry J. Browder of SimmonsCooper inEast Alton. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-292.

--Doyle Fink ofMissouri, a mechanic, sheet metal worker, military police officer, warehouse worker, miner and federal mine safety and health inspector from 1959 until 1979, claims colon cancer. Fink will be represented by Robert Phillips and Perry J. Browder of SimmonsCooper inEast Alton. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-293.

--Howard B. Knotek ofWisconsin, a sheet metal worker at various locations throughoutIllinois andMissouri from 1950 until 1993, claims mesothelioma. Knotek will be represented by W. Brent Copple and Myles L. Epperson of Simmons, Browder, Gianaris, Angelides and Barnerd inEast Alton. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-300.

--Diane Knudson of Tennessee, a sales clerk, pin setter, restaurant worker, graphotype operator, machine operator, bakery good packer, waitress, packer of processed meat products, slaughter line worker, oil seal manufacturing worker, machine operator, punch press operator, expeditor and purchasing and receiving clerk at various locations throughout Illinois, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Connecticut from 1952 until 2003, claims mesothelioma. Knudson was also secondarily exposed to asbestos fibers through her husband, who worked as a tool and die worker, maintenance mechanic, maintenance supervisor and plant manager from 1961 until 2004, according to the complaint. Knudson will be represented by Christopher R. Guinn and Christopher J. Levy of Simmons, Browder, Gianaris, Angelides and Barnerd inEast Alton. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-285.

--Michael Mahoney Sr. of Indiana, a time keeper, truck driver, machine operator, concrete worker and laborer at various locations from 1953 until 1979, claims lung cancer. Mahoney will be represented by Robert Phillips and Perry J. Browder of SimmonsCooper inEast Alton. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-281.

--Michael J. Mazza ofRhode Island claims his recently deceased father, Bernard Mazza, developed mesothelioma after his work as an electrician at various locations from 1955 until 1979. Michael J. Mazza will be represented by Robert Phillips and Perry J. Browder of Simmons, Browder, Gianaris, Angelides and Barnerd inEast Alton. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-294.

--Diane Mickle ofOhio claims her recently deceased brother, James E. Williams, developed mesothelioma after his work as a laborer and assembly line worker from 1975 until 1979. Mickle will be represented by Robert Phillips and Perry J. Browder of Simmons, Browder, Gianaris, Angelides and Barnerd inEast Alton. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-299.

--Darlene Pley claims her recently deceased mother, Catherine McCluskey, developed mesothelioma after her work as a laundry worker at various locations from 1948 until 1950. McCluskey was also exposed to asbestos fibers through her father, Donald McCluskey, who worked as a truck driver, delivery person and laborer at various locations from 1950 until his retirement, according to the complaint. Pley will be represented by Robert Phillips and Perry J. Browder of SimmonsCooper inEast Alton. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-280.

--Robert and Theresa Shramek ofNebraska claim Robert Shramek developed mesothelioma after his work as a laborer, payroll clerk, bookkeeper and storeroom purchasing agent at various locations throughoutIllinois,Nebraska,Hawaii andCalifornia from late 1942 until 1992. The Shrameks will be represented by Nate Mudd and Casey C. Cira of French and Mudd inSt. Louis. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-290.

--Debra Smith ofNorth Carolina claims her recently deceased mother, Peggy Ann Floyd, developed mesothelioma after she was secondarily exposed to asbestos fibers through her father, John Godwin, and her son, Robert Wayne Floyd. Peggy Ann Floyd was employed as an office worker from 1954 until 1964, as a machine operator from 1964 until 1972, as a server for Eckerd's Lunch Counter in the 1970s and as a server for Ham N' Egger in the 1990s, according to the complaint. Godwin worked as a boilermaker for Domtar Paper Co. from 1937 until 1943 and as a boilermaker for Dillon Supply Company from 1943 until 1956, the suit states. Peggy Ann Floyd's deceased husband worked as a restaurant inspector from 1958 until the late 1970s and her son worked as a mechanic, the complaint says. Smith will be represented by Elizabeth V. Heller and Robert Rowland of Goldenberg, Heller, Antognoli and Rowland in Edwardsville. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-286.

--Arlene Spinner of Illinois claims her recently deceased husband, Ernest Spinner, developed mesothelioma after his work as a chemical engineer at various locations from 1942 until 1979. Arlene Spinner will be represented by Robert Phillips and Perry J. Browder of Simmons, Browder, Gianaris, Angelides and Barnerd inEast Alton. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-296.

--Sharon Ternes of Minnesota claims her recently deceased husband, Leo A. Ternes, developed lung cancer after his work as an operator and laborer at various locations from 1968 until 1970 and from 1974 until 1979 and as a helicopter mechanic from 1970 until 1974. Sharon Ternes will be represented by Robert Phillips and Perry J. Browder of Simmons, Browder, Gianaris, Angelides and Barnerd inEast Alton. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-284.

--Marvin Timmer ofNebraska, a pipefitter and plumber at various locations from 1955 until 1979, claims lung cancer. Timmer will be represented by Robert Phillips and Perry J. Browder of SimmonsCooper inEast Alton. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-297.

--Willis B. and Mary V. Waller of Illinois allege Willis B. Wallerdeveloped mesothelioma after his work as a laborer at Keasbey and Mattison from 1941 until 1943; as an aviation man andgun man for the U.S. Navy from 1943 until 1946; as a switchman at Eastern Illinois Railroad Company from 1946 until 1947; as a top laborer at Old Ben Mine Co. from 1947 until 1953; as a teacher for the Department of Corrections from 1953 until 1986; as a carpenter, tiler, roofer and plaster from 1953 until 1952; and as a shadetree mechanic from 1940 until 1952. The Wallers will be represented by Randy L. Gori of Gori, Julian and Associates in Edwardsville and by W. Mark Lanier, Patrick N. Haines, Angela B. Greenburg, Sam T. Richard, Bridget B. Truxillo and Lauren H. Ware of The Lanier Law Firm inHouston. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-288.

--Rochelle Byer Walters of Florida alleges the recently deceased Joseph Byer Walters developed mesothelioma after his work as a laborer and a member of the U.S. Navy. Rochelle Byer Walters will be represented by Richard L. Saville Jr. and Ethan A. Flint ofAlton. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-291.

--Charles Williams ofAlabama, a construction worker and laborer at various locations from 1956 until 1972, claims lung cancer. Williams will be represented by Robert Phillips and Perry J. Browder of SimmonsCooper inEast Alton. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-298.
